Lesson from Last Year and How We Can Start 2023 with Grace

How do you review the past year and prepare for the new year?

I love celebrating my clients’ wins and helping them assess their past year. Below are the questions I ask them to help them navigate their wins and challenges.

How would you respond to these questions?

1. What are the things that you are proud of or happy about during the year?

Small wins or big achievements are what made you grow and prosper during the year. No need to be modest or shy in sharing them. It’s easy to list 10 things or even more.

What are the emotions involved when you achieved these things?

2. If there were 1 or 2 things you could do better or improve, What would they be?

No more than 2 answers even if you are tempted to add more.

How would you like to do them differently next year so you could come up with better solutions?

3. After creating your list of wins and a few improvements, how would you describe your year 2022 in general?

Feel free to complete the sentence below.

The year 2022 was the year of ……….. (ex. Growth, Creation, Learnings, Acceleration, Preparation, Accomplishment, Love, etc.)

4. If you are to align your purpose from 2022 with the present year, what are your expectations for 2023?

For example, mine is the year of creation.

So if I want to make 2023 the year of creation:

  • What is the purpose of creation?
  • What do I need to create?
  • How do I create them?
  • When do I create them?

5. Now all I need to remember is ‘CREATION’

So, whatever I do this year, I have to keep it aligned with my own purpose (which is creation in my case).

This means I should be determined to focus on just that and not on anything that doesn’t support my vision.

Before taking action, I ought to ask myself, “Does this support my purpose of creation?”

So, what is your focus in 2023?
