Coaching Relationship

The Client understands that coaching is an ongoing, interactive, professional relationship designed to help The Client achieve his/her desired results in their career and in life.

Coaching is not a substitute for any form of medically prescribed or specified services (including psychotherapy, counseling, psychology services, therapy or analysis, except to the extent where the Client has been specifically referred to the Coach by a registered medical practitioner for purposes of the coaching and, whilst doing so, remains under the continuing supervision of that medical practitioner. If The Client desires additional or alternative treatment or therapy, The Coach will provide professional referrals if appropriate.

Services

The services to be provided by the coach to the client are agreed jointly with the client.  Coaching may address specific personal projects, business successes, or general conditions in the client’s life or profession.  Other coaching services include value clarification, brainstorming, identifying plans of action, and examining modes of operating in life, asking clarifying questions, and making empowering requests or suggestions for action.

Throughout the working relationship, the coach will engage in direct and personal conversations.  The client understands that successful coaching requires a co-active collaborative approach between client and coach.  In the coaching relationship, the coach plays the role of a facilitator of change, but it is the client’s responsibility to enact or bring about the change. 

Sessions

A Session will be carried out over face-to-face, telephone or Skype coaching at mutually agreed locations and times during the Coaching Period.

Terms of Payment

  • Fee per Session will be paid in advance of Session or on the day of the Session itself.
  • Where the Total Fee for All Sessions is paid in advance of or at the time of commencement of the first

   Session, the following discount will be deducted from the Total Fee for All Sessions amount above.

  • 10% for 10 sessions
  • The Coach may postpone/terminate any future sessions required to complete the Agreement, where

  payment for a prior session has not yet been received. Upon receipt of payment, The Coach will

  reschedule the remaining sessions under this Agreement.

  • Payment for Coaching shall be made in cash or by cheque at the time of coaching, or by EFT prior to the session(s). 

The Coach with at least 24 hour notice of session cancellation or postponement. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the client being charged for the session.

Termination

The coach and client agree to provide each other with two week notice in the event that it is desired to terminate coaching.  Otherwise, the coaching will continue for the duration of the contracted period. 

Privacy

The client can, at any point in the coaching session, declare his/her preference not to discuss a specific issue, by simply stating that they would rather not discuss this issue.  The coach agrees to respect this boundary and will not attempt to forward the conversation further along those lines.

Confidentiality

The professional ethics and guidelines are designated by the International Coaching Federation (see www.coachfederation.org) Copies of the ethical guidelines are available on the websites.  All information about the coach / client relationship will remain strictly confidential except in very rare circumstances where decreed by law; ie. Where the court might issue a subpoena for the file or information

If the client wishes for the coach to speak to someone outside our interactions, then the client needs to give a written permission (original letter, fax or email) to do so.  Exceptions to confidentiality of course relate to circumstances such as intent to seriously harm someone, child abuse etc.   Otherwise, all information is confidential.

It is also important to note that in some situations, it is important to be aware of the use of technology in that for some clients, there is a risk in using certain media such as the internet, mobile phones and cordless phones.  If the client use these to communicate with the coach, then the coach will assume that it is appropriate to continue to do so in interactions with the client.
